Character Scrapbook
Graphic Organizer/Story Mapping
This is a very artistic tool that is free to teachers and their students. It can be used as a tool for character and story mapping as well as allowing the students to create individual illustrations of the chosen characters. By allowing students to form more concrete images of the characters in the book they will be able to better comprehend the story. This site also asks students to input important information which is vital to the character and his or her in the story. This website encourages students to have a memorable activity which can reinforce their comprehension of a book they have read or are reading.

This tool can be used for characterization aspect of reading. It is free of charge to access and a very creative way to do character mapping. I would make this an assignment. Individual students will be able to represent their own idea of what characters look like from the story read in class. Each different perspective and illustration could easily be compiled into a class scrapbook. Allowing students to see others perspectives may widen their own understanding of the story and create a respect for the diversity which always exists in interpretation. This tool would provide all students, including those who may be struggling in reading, with the ability to display and organize ideas about characters and their contribution to the story.
